Amber

Amber is the warm Autechre record, the one made before the erosion set in, and it's the most approachable thing in their catalogue without being any less rigorous. The melodies are still intact, the rhythms still breathe, and the whole thing has a glow the later records deliberately abandoned. It sits at thirty-three because Incunabula and Tri Repetae make sharper statements, but Amber is the one you can actually love rather than admire.
