Smokers Delight is the actual sound of a comedown, Leeds hip-hop slowed to a crawl and stretched into something narcotic and complete. Nightmares on Wax built the core of the whole downtempo canon here, warm and unhurried and endlessly replayable, and Bonobo's entire career implies it. It was buried in earlier drafts at a rank it didn't deserve. Seventy is closer to right, because this is one of the records the genre was actually built on.
