Moon Safari is the record that turned French electronica into a lifestyle, vocoders and Rhodes and a warm analogue haze that soundtracked a whole era of dinner parties and ad breaks without ever feeling cheap. Air made downtempo elegant, and the songcraft underneath the atmosphere is real. It ranks at seventy-six because it aims for comfort rather than confrontation, but it achieves that comfort more gracefully than almost anyone, and it launched a decade of imitators who missed the songwriting.
