Why it's here

Aftermath and Dextrous; Warp's bleep era at album length

A Word of Science is Warp's bleep era at album length, 'Aftermath' and 'Dextrous', Nightmares on Wax when they were a bleep-and-breakbeat act rather than a downtempo one. It's a record from the label's founding sound, harder and more rave-facing than the group's later work, and it's one of the better full-length statements of the bleep moment. It ranks at a hundred and sixty-nine because it's slightly uneven, but the peaks are genuine, and it documents a crucial early Warp sound.
