Dimension Intrusion is Richie Hawtin's Plus 8 side, harder and stranger than Plastikman, techno with an edge his acid records deliberately smoothed. It's the sound of a producer working out how severe he could be before he found the minimalism that made him famous. It sits at sixty-nine because it's a way station rather than a destination in his catalogue, but the way station is genuinely good, and it shows where he came from.
