Warm, witty and sample-dense, Amygdala treats melodic house as psychedelic songcraft. DJ Koze builds around guest vocalists and never buries the groove beneath them, giving the album the emotional range of pop while its floor logic stays intact. 'Track ID Anyone?' opens on a joke and 'La Duquesa' spends ten minutes proving he was not only joking.

Funny, sad and extremely well made, often inside the same bar. Koze is the only producer of his generation who can put a joke in a track without cheapening it, and this is where the humour and the melancholy finally hold each other up rather than take turns.
