Efdemin's debut is house music that never raises its voice. 'April Fools' runs to eleven minutes and nothing in it announces itself. Tiny harmonic shifts and restrained percussion do almost embarrassingly little on paper, yet the record keeps deepening because every change lands exactly where it should. It is tasteful in the rare, non-insulting sense.
