Elevations

René Löwe takes Basic Channel's vocabulary and removes almost everything that might announce itself. On Elevations, movement happens inside the decay of a chord or the distance between pulses, so the tracks seem suspended even while they keep time. It deepens an existing idea instead of opening a new one, and the deepening is exquisite. The record does not float so much as refuse to land.
