Around the House

Around the House is house music with a manifesto attached, Matthew Herbert building tracks from the sounds of domestic objects, percussion made from crockery and household noise. It's conceptual and genuinely beautiful at once, the idea never getting in the way of the groove. It ranks at a hundred and fourteen because the concept occasionally shows its workings, but the workings are fascinating, and Matmos and a whole clicks-and-cuts scene followed from it.
