Lifeforms is a double album of weather, organs and dread, with sampling treated not as a shortcut but as an entire ecosystem. It's the record where FSOL's network-era ideas began, and its influence runs through every later attempt to build a self-contained sonic world out of found sound. The sprawl that is the whole point is also the cost, and that's what holds it at twelve.
