A double album of weather and organs; sampling as ecosystem
Lifeforms is a double album of weather, organs and dread, with sampling treated not as a shortcut but as an entire ecosystem. FSOL build a self-contained world from found sound, digital texture and fragments that seem to arrive from some private network. The sprawl is the method and occasionally the cost. The cost is what keeps it outside the ten.
№ 11 on The 10 Best Progressive House and Rave Albums
A double album built from rave materials with almost no rave left in it, which is why it is here rather than higher. The furthest this tradition travelled from the room it started in, and still made of the same parts.
