Rhythm and Stealth

Rhythm and Stealth is Leftfield's heavier second act. 'Afrika Shox' leads a record built around bass weight, darker surfaces and physical impact, with less interest in easy song shape than in what happens when a groove fills the whole room. It has less range than Leftism and more force. At its best, the bass seems to rearrange the room.

Four years after Leftism, heavier and colder, and the record that closes the decade this page is mostly about. Where Leftism expands outward, this reduces: space becomes part of the arrangement and bass becomes structural. Less generous than the first record and more assured.
