Timeless took jungle from the dubplate to the 21-minute orchestral suite and dared the press to complain. The title track is a real long-form composition, and the album is the permission slip every drum & bass LP walked through afterward. Goldie made the genre legible as art without sanding off its menace. It ranks here rather than higher because the record sags through its middle stretch where its peaks are monumental.
