Why it's here
Fusion jazz played at 170bpm by someone who can actually play
Hard Normal Daddy is fusion jazz played at 170bpm by someone who can genuinely play, Squarepusher at his most virtuosic and most musical. The bass playing is real, the edits are impossible, and the whole thing swings in a way most drill'n'bass never managed. It ranks at eighty-nine because it's a display of chops as much as a set of songs, but the chops serve genuine tunes, and few records here are this dazzling to actually listen to.
