The Fat of the Land went number one in twenty countries and made rave's ugliest, most successful record. 'Firestarter' and 'Breathe' are warheads, and the swagger is undeniable, but as an album it leans on three singles and attitude more than on sustained invention. It ranks at eighty-eight because enormity is not the same as sequencing, and Experience is the better front-to-back record, but as a cultural detonation it has few equals here, for better and worse.
