Gymnastics

Gymnastics is Karl O'Connor's founding statement, techno as post-punk, the Downwards aesthetic in its rawest early form. Regis built something stark and unforgiving and genuinely new, Birmingham techno finding its identity in the space between the dancefloor and the industrial. It ranks at a hundred and forty because it's a first statement still sharpening its edges, but the edges it found defined a whole scene, and it hits with real conviction.
