Shedding the Past is Shed warming Berlin techno from the inside. 'Another Wedged Chicken' and 'That Beats Everything!' are not what a Berlin techno record usually calls its tracks. Dub-techno depth and broken rhythms are still there. But the melodic center keeps tugging the album away from gray functionalism, giving the machinery something closer to memory than mood.
