Silentintroduction is Detroit house as Black Detroit memoir, dusty and hostile and gorgeous all at once, and it's the best album the city's house scene produced. Kenny Dixon Jr mixed it deliberately wrong and made it better for it, and everything Theo Parrish and Omar-S and that whole lineage did runs back through it. It was buried for years by a filing error in earlier drafts of this list. It belongs here, beside the city's techno peak, not below the ambient tail.
