Why it's here

Pacific State: a saxophone over acid house, and Manchester never recovered

Ninety is a real album, not just a vehicle for 'Pacific State', though that saxophone over acid house owned the summer of 1989 and changed Manchester in the process. The record around it holds up, 'Magical Dream' and the rest proving 808 State could sustain a full-length. It invented the E-tune and the ambient intro almost as a side effect. It sits at fifty-two because a couple of tracks lean on the era, but the era started partly here.
