Pacific State: a saxophone over acid house, and Manchester never recovered
Ninety is a real album, not just a vehicle for 'Pacific 202', the track that escaped as 'Pacific State' and owned the summer of 1989, changing Manchester in the process. The record around it holds up, 'Magical Dream' and the rest proving 808 State could sustain a full-length. It invented the E-tune and the ambient intro almost as a side effect. A couple of tracks lean on the era. The era started partly here.
