Neptune's Lair is Detroit electro's underwater mythology finally stretched to album length, Drexciya's aquatic fiction rendered across a full record rather than a run of singles. It's electro at its most conceptual and most complete, and it seeded the whole mythological turn that Dopplereffekt and eventually Nazar would follow. It ranks at eighty because it's a strange, cold, demanding record, but the strangeness is the point, and nobody else built a world quite like it.
