Dettmann II

Dettmann II sounds like somebody removed everything from Berghain except the load-bearing walls. Marcel Dettmann works with drum placement, low-end pressure and silence so severe that flourish would almost feel rude. Functional techno rarely looks this good in fluorescent lighting. 'Throb', 'Shiver', 'Soar', 'Aim': one syllable each, and none of them oversells.

What Berghain sounds like when someone finally gets it onto a record. Austere, physical, in no hurry.
