Leftism settled the argument about whether dance music could make an album rather than dump a pile of singles. It's a genuine long-player with sequencing, dynamics and range, from the punk assault of 'Open Up' to the dub-tribal architecture of 'Storm 3000'. It set the template every dance album measured itself against for the rest of the decade. It ranks just below the Brown Album because one or two tracks work as connective tissue where Orbital's had none.
