Soup is Skam Records' quiet masterpiece, Boards of Canada's Manchester cousin, ambient IDM built with the same faded-tape warmth and half the recognition. Bola made a record that glows with a gentle melancholy, and it stands as one of the label's finest hours even if it never travelled far beyond it. It ranks at ninety-three because it's a scene record rather than a landmark, but the scene produced few things this lovely.
