Soup is Skam's quiet masterpiece, Boards of Canada's Manchester cousin, built from the same faded-tape warmth and given half the recognition. Melodies seem to arrive already weathered, with soft percussion and blurred edges giving the album the feel of a memory losing detail. A scene record more than a landmark, and that scene produced few things this lovely.
