Electro-Soma is English kids doing Detroit with genuine feeling rather than pastiche. B12 take the Model 500 template and build something warm, melodic and complete out of it, giving album-scale continuity to a language that often lived on singles. The debt stays audible without swallowing the songs. B12 studied a sound instead of inventing one, and few students have ever been this good.
