Self-portrait sleeve, orchestral menace; the transitional one that holds up best

...I Care Because You Do moves with a heavy, orchestral menace that separates it from both Richard D. James's ambient work and the hyperactive programming to come. Strings, distorted percussion and sour melodies keep pulling the album into darker shapes. It sounds less like a bridge than a room he only occupied once; that is its limit and its appeal.
