Colours

Colours is jazz D&B that didn't embarrass itself, 'Circles' and a record that brought genuine musicality to drum & bass without tipping into the smoothness that sank the genre's jazzier wing. Adam F made something lush and accomplished, jazz-inflected D&B with real songs and real playing. It ranks at a hundred and seventy-three because it occasionally edges toward the polished, but it stays the right side of it, and it's one of the more musical statements the genre produced.
