Solid State Survivor

Solid State Survivor is Tokyo's answer to Kraftwerk, funnier and faster, 'Rydeen' and 'Technopolis' technopop songs that still move rooms decades on. Yellow Magic Orchestra took the machine aesthetic and gave it a wit and a pop energy their German counterparts kept in check, and technopop begat electro begat much of what followed. It ranks at a hundred and thirty-seven because on this list it's ancestry, but the songs are genuine and its reach was global.
