Now Is Early

Nicolette's voice had no obvious precedent, and Shut Up and Dance gave it hardcore breakbeats to fight against, under a vocal Björk and Massive Attack both came looking for. Now Is Early sounds caught between scenes because neither side can contain her: rave energy below, something far stranger happening at the front. The friction never resolves, leaving the album permanently unstable. An oddity and not a canonical statement, and its influence ran a great deal further than its sales.
