Exit Planet Dust is hip-hop drums at rave volume, the Chemical Brothers' debut and the record that made big beat a genre with a name. 'Leave Home' and 'Chemical Beats' hit with a force nobody had quite assembled before, block-rocking energy built from breakbeats and enormous low end. It's rawer than Dig Your Own Hole and nearly as good. It sits at sixty-seven because the follow-up refined what this one announced, but this one did the announcing.
