Phaedra

Phaedra is where the Berlin School begins, a malfunctioning Moog sequencer becoming an entire genre, Tangerine Dream stumbling onto something that would echo for decades. It's the founding document of sequencer music and, unusually for a foundational record, it's also a genuinely great listen, patient and strange and hypnotic. It ranks at a hundred and twenty-nine because its influence outstrips its immediacy, but the influence is vast and the record itself still holds.
