Programmed is Carl Craig with live jazz players and no compromise, the parent record of 'Bug in the Bassbin', Detroit techno fused with genuine improvisation. Innerzone Orchestra brought real musicians into the machine music and let the two argue, and the result is some of the most ambitious work in the city's catalogue. It ranks at a hundred and twenty-eight because the fusion is occasionally uneven, but the ambition is enormous, and few records bridge these worlds this seriously.
