Phaedra was recorded for Virgin in 1974 on equipment that drifted out of tune as the studio warmed up, which is part of why it still sounds alive rather than archived. Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke and Peter Baumann taught the sequencer to breathe. The main canons draw their line at 1975 and made an exception for it, which it earns.
