№ 20 on The 250 Best Electronic Albums of the 21st Century
Latex-shine surfaces, sub-bass physicality and radical sweetness make synthesis tactile on Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides. SOPHIE can sound brutally synthetic and emotionally exposed in the same moment. That combination became central to hyperpop and much of the pop production that followed. 'Faceshopping' is the brutal one and 'It's Okay To Cry' is the one that made the record impossible to hear as an experiment.
№ 1 on The 10 Best Experimental and Deconstructed Club Albums
Everything synthesised, nothing sampled, and a record that runs from a ballad to industrial noise without ever sounding like a range being demonstrated. The most consequential electronic album of its decade and the one most obviously ahead of the rest.
