R.I.P. dissolves house and techno's grid into smeared, half-legible abstraction organized loosely around death and afterlife, treating degradation itself as compositional material rather than a lo-fi affectation. It gave outsider house a serious conceptual and sonic vocabulary that a decade of abstract-techno producers subsequently drew on.
