Sheet One is acid stripped back to raw nerve, 303 minimalism with rolling-paper artwork and a narcotic pulse that never lets up. Hawtin took the machine everyone had already exhausted and found a new austerity in it, the after-hours weapon that gave acid its second life. It's the record the Plus 8 sound was built on. It ranks here because it's a study in one idea, but that idea reshaped a genre.
