Techstep's peak; D&B at its most mechanical and hostile

Machinery seems to malfunction at 170 bpm all through Wormhole. Ed Rush and Optical strip drum & bass of warmth until pressure, precision and threat do nearly all the work. The airlessness limits it as a listen and makes it definitive as a statement. Then another bass movement arrives and the exhaustion becomes physical.

6 on The 10 Best Jungle and Drum & Bass Albums

The turn toward metal and menace. Settle brought No U-Turn's filth, Quinn brought the mixdown science, and techstep stopped being a tendency and became the default for years.
