Under the 69 alias, Carl Craig puts abstraction and dancefloor pull in the same groove. The tracks can turn strange and lose none of their body, and the looseness gives him room to move differently from either his more direct techno or his more elaborate projects. One facet of a larger talent, brilliantly turned; few producers had this much range to spend.
