Phillip Sollmann brings Hamburg reserve to Detroit longing and gets something more emotional than either description implies. He records for Dial and Ostgut Ton, works in sound art and installation, and later became a Berghain resident. His debut is minimal house with an inner life, made at a moment when most minimal house had none.
