Full On Mask Hysteria

Full On Mask Hysteria is hardcore rave's only decent album, and it knows exactly how daft it is, dust masks and Vicks and 'Activ 8'. Altern-8 made rave music with a straight face and a wink at the same time, and the record is more fun and more knowing than the genre usually managed. It ranks at a hundred and fifty-eight because it's a novelty as much as a statement, but it's a genuinely enjoyable one, and it's the rare hardcore record that actually works as an album.
