World Receiver turns shortwave static into distance you can hear. Tetsu Inoue hands the composition to cold signals, interference and empty space, so the record feels less like a set of ambient pieces than a transmission slowly losing its source. Its appeal is narrow by design: texture, space, signal decay. The narrowness limits its reach and is also the whole achievement. Absence feels physical here.
