Crooks & Lovers coined the post-dubstep vocabulary of skeletal drum programming, tape-warped melodic fragments and negative space, an intimate, unhurried record that traded dubstep's weight for intricacy. That vocabulary fed directly into a generation of UK bass and bedroom-electronic production that followed.
