FFWD

FFWD is Robert Fripp and the Orb folding guitar loops into ambient house, a collaboration that had no business working as well as it does. Fripp's guitar treatments give the record a texture the Orb's usual palette lacked, and the whole thing drifts with real purpose. It ranks at ninety-eight because it's a curiosity as much as a canonical record, but the curiosity is genuinely lovely and unlike anything else in either party's catalogue.
