Kristian Jabs collapsed drum and bass into techno's frame and made halftime dread a Bristol export. He came out of the city's bass lineage, releases through Blackest Ever Black and his own imprint, and keeps the tempo deliberately ambiguous. His self-titled debut remains the clearest statement of a style plenty of others have since borrowed.
