He rewired hip-hop through his great-aunt Alice Coltrane's bloodline and then built Brainfeeder to give the results somewhere to live. Low End Theory was the room, the label launched Thundercat and Hiatus Kaiyote, and Cosmogramma and Los Angeles both chart high. Between them they made jazz and the machine age one conversation.
