Coltrane-family free-jazz harp, glitch-hop drums and hip-hop low end keep colliding across Cosmogramma until the album feels like one restless suite. Flying Lotus bleeds the pieces into one another instead of behaving like isolated singles, and the record gave the 2010s beat scene its most ambitious formal template. 'MmmHmm' is the clearest single moment on a record built to resist single moments.
