Steve Hillage's second life; Gong meets Detroit and it works
Steve Hillage brings Gong instincts into 777 and refuses to hide the joins. Prog guitar, rave pulse and ambient drift keep scraping against one another, while his melodic sense prevents the record from splitting apart. The joins stay visible all the way through. The fusion is awkward in places, but the best of it genuinely transports.
