World is Shinichi Atobe making almost nothing happen beautifully. An intro and five tracks called 'World', numbered. That is all the signposting Atobe has ever offered. Murky grooves, soft chords and microscopic shifts in repetition move so quietly that the album can seem static until you realize you have been pulled several rooms deeper without noticing the door.

The Chain Reaction ghost who released once in 2001 and vanished for thirteen years until Demdike Stare found him. Offhand, strange, and unimprovable in a way that makes the more effortful records here sound like they are trying.
