Ryan Lee West builds Persona as a taut melodic-techno arc of tension and release. The sequencing gives the album more shape than a loose track list. Emotional directness never overwhelms the rhythmic control. It closes on 'Fragment', ninety-nine seconds after a seven-minute 'Hidden', which is the arc releasing rather than resolving.
