The 4 Cornered Room is GPR's finest hour, a techno producer's ambient record that outlived his techno. Luke Slater built something patient and spacious and quietly harmonically rich under an alias, and it's the kind of record that gets rediscovered every few years by people amazed it isn't better known. It ranks at ninety-four because it's a side project rather than a main statement, but the side project is better than most people's main work.
