Immunity

One long emotional arc holds Immunity together: grainy techno rises toward shattering peaks, then gives way to a hushed piano comedown. Jon Hopkins makes the transitions cumulative, so the album plays as an extended event instead of a sequence of tracks. 'Open Eye Signal' is the peak and the title track is the comedown, and you cannot get to one except through the other. Its structure became widely imitated because the pacing is so exact.
