Desert Scores

Desert Scores is Ferox's Englishman doing Detroit jazz-fusion better than most Detroiters, Ian O'Brien bringing genuine musicianship and jazz feeling to techno. It's a record of real harmonic and rhythmic sophistication, the sound of someone who understood both the machines and the music theory, and it's criminally overlooked. It ranks at a hundred and seventy-one because it's a connoisseur's record rather than a landmark, but the playing and the ideas are superb, and it deserves far more attention than it got.
